Start your mushroom cultivation with our premium Golden Oyster Grain Spawn, available in approximately 1.5 kg units. Golden Oyster (Pleurotus citrinopileatus) is produced as second-generation (G2) grain spawn from carefully selected commercial fruiting genetics chosen for rapid colonization, vigorous cluster formation, excellent biological efficiency, and consistent yields. Each bag contains fully colonized premium corn grain, providing a vigorous inoculum ready for expansion onto pasteurized or sterilized bulk substrates.

Every grain spawn bag is prepared under strict sterile laboratory conditions and inspected before shipment to ensure vigorous, contamination-free colonization. Golden Oyster is prized for its brilliant golden-yellow clusters, delicate texture, mild nutty flavor, and rapid growth, making it one of the most visually striking gourmet mushrooms to cultivate. Grain spawn is ideal for inoculating a wide variety of hardwood-based bulk substrates for reliable mushroom production.

Available Varieties:

  • Golden Oyster — the standard strain. Naturally slower-growing and somewhat less productive than other oyster varieties such as Pearl Oyster, and performs best with generous fresh-air exchange and consistent temperatures — a little extra patience and airflow go a long way with this one.
  • Golden Treasure — a commercial-grade strain selected for faster colonization, more reliable fruiting, and higher overall yields than the standard line, with thicker stems and meatier caps. It also tolerates a slightly wider fruiting temperature range, up to approximately 29°C (85°F).

Freshly Prepared:

To ensure maximum viability and vigor, every grain spawn bag is prepared fresh to order. Please allow approximately 3–4 weeks for G2 or 4–6 weeks for made-to-order G1 for grain preparation, sterilization, inoculation, complete colonization, quality inspection, and packaging before shipment.

We only offer G2 for strains we are actively growing, so you never wait on a strain we don't have ready. If G2 shows as sold out, you can still order G1, prepared fresh for you from our liquid culture. Prefer to grow G1 yourself? Our Grain Spawn Kit lets you inoculate the bags in your own space. Running a farm and need G2 every week? Contact us to arrange regular weekly deliveries. The first shipment takes about 4–6 weeks to prepare.

Storage:

For best results, use the grain spawn as soon as possible after arrival. If storage is necessary, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C (35–46°F) and protected from direct light. Do not freeze. Fresh grain spawn provides the most vigorous colonization.

Golden Oyster is a vigorous species that can spread readily in suitable environments. Grow responsibly and avoid introducing spent substrate or live cultures into natural ecosystems.
