Species: Volvariella volvacea
Common Names: Paddy Straw Mushroom, Straw Mushroom, and Rice Straw Mushroom
Culture Origin: USA
Paddy Straw Mushroom Liquid Culture contains actively growing mycelium of Volvariella volvacea, a fast-growing tropical gourmet mushroom prized for its delicate texture, mild earthy flavor, and exceptional performance in warm climates. Widely cultivated throughout Asia, it is a popular ingredient in soups, stir-fries, curries, and a variety of traditional dishes. Its rapid growth and preference for high temperatures make it one of the most distinctive cultivated mushrooms available.
Beyond its exceptional culinary qualities, Paddy Straw Mushroom is naturally rich in dietary fiber, protein, B vitamins, essential minerals, antioxidants, and beta-glucans. It has attracted considerable scientific interest for its naturally occurring bioactive compounds and their potential roles in supporting immune function, antioxidant activity, and overall wellness. Its exceptionally rapid colonization, vigorous growth, and adaptation to tropical conditions make it one of the most rewarding gourmet mushrooms to cultivate in warm environments.
Each liquid culture syringe contains actively growing mycelium from a carefully selected culture, providing a more consistent starting point than working from spores. It is ideal for expanding onto agar plates, preparing additional liquid cultures, or inoculating grain spawn, making it an excellent starting point for gourmet mushroom cultivation.
What You Receive:
- One freshly prepared 10 mL liquid culture syringe
- Syringe supplied sterile, closed, and securely capped
- One sterile needle
- One alcohol preparation wipe
Freshly Prepared and Contamination-Screened:
Every syringe is prepared fresh under sterile conditions once your order is received. Before shipment, a sample from each batch is transferred onto sterile agar in a Petri dish and observed during a quality-control screening period to verify the absence of contamination.
Please allow 1–3 business days for this contamination-screening process to be completed before your order is dispatched.
Quality Guarantee:
If your liquid culture syringe is confirmed to be contaminated upon arrival, contact us promptly with clear photographs. We will review the claim and, if confirmed, provide a replacement at no additional charge.
Proper sterile technique must be used after opening, as contamination introduced during handling, inoculation, storage, or cultivation is outside our control.
Typical Fruiting Time:
Under optimal cultivation conditions, Paddy Straw Mushroom typically produces its first harvest approximately 2–3 weeks after substrate inoculation, depending on the substrate, incubation temperature, humidity, and environmental conditions.
Storage:
Do not refrigerate or freeze this culture.
Unlike most gourmet mushroom species, Paddy Straw Mushroom is a tropical fungus that is sensitive to low temperatures. Prolonged refrigeration may damage or kill the culture.
Store the liquid culture syringe at room temperature (20–30°C / 68–86°F) in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight. For best results, use the culture as soon as possible after receiving it.
Gently shake the syringe before use to evenly redistribute the mycelium.
Important Information:
This product does not include cultivation instructions. Customers are responsible for researching the appropriate substrate, incubation conditions, fruiting temperatures, humidity, fresh-air exchange, and other cultivation requirements for Paddy Straw mushrooms before purchasing.
Liquid culture appearance naturally varies. Healthy mycelium may appear as cloudy, wispy, stringy, or suspended white growth within the nutrient solution.
