Dragon fruit (Selenicereus spp., formerly Hylocereus) is a vigorous climbing cactus known for its spectacular night-blooming flowers and delicious tropical fruit. Under warm conditions and proper care, cuttings root readily and quickly develop into productive vines.

Typical Rooting Time:

Under warm conditions, roots typically begin to develop within 2–6 weeks, depending on temperature, humidity, and growing conditions.

Typical Fruiting Time:

With proper care and favorable growing conditions, rooted cuttings typically begin producing fruit in approximately 6–18 months, depending on the variety, climate, and growing conditions.

Watering:

Dragon fruit is drought tolerant but does not tolerate continuously wet soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot and poor growth. Allow the growing medium to partially dry between waterings, especially while the cutting is establishing roots.

Temperature:

Dragon fruit thrives in warm climates and grows best between 20–35°C (68–95°F). Protect plants from frost and prolonged temperatures below 5°C (40°F).

Soil:

Plant in a well-draining cactus or succulent mix or any loose, well-aerated soil with excellent drainage. Dragon fruit performs best in full sun once established.

Care Instructions:

Allow the freshly cut end to callus for approximately 5–7 days in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated location before planting.

After the cut end has callused, insert the cutting 2–3 inches (5–8 cm) into well-draining soil. Water lightly until roots begin to form, then gradually increase watering as the plant becomes established.

Providing a sturdy trellis or support early in the plant's development will encourage vigorous vertical growth and improve future fruit production.

The post office wasn't too cooperative on this order but Linh was so helpful to advise me it would be delayed. Thankfully it was a dragon fruit and not really affected by the issue. Arrived in great shape and a bonus!
